Rev. Debra Short

Rev. Short comes to Bethlehem from Bradley UMC in Gastonia, NC.  Originally from Northfield, Illinois, a suburb of the North Shore of Chicago, Pastor Debra grew up in the United Church of Christ denomination. She attended and graduated from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary with a Master of Divinity degree after receiving her calling at age 36. Before that, Debra graduated from Stephen’s College in 1978 with an Associate Arts Degree in Fashion Illustration before graduating in 1980 from Louisiana State University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in painting.

 

After graduating from seminary, she served in the Northern Illinois Conference of the United Methodist Church for three years before transferring to the Western North Carolina Conference in 2000. Rev. Short joined Bradley Memorial UMC in July 2013 from Westview UMC in Hickory where she was the pastor since 2009. She has also served as lead Pastor at Roberta UMC in Concord; Bonds Grove UMC in Waxhaw, and Pleasant Grove UMC in Charlotte as Associate Pastor.
